Primary National Offer Day sees spike in online applications as parents and councils such as Luton turn to faster, easier processes

According to Liquidlogic, the UK’s fastest-growing supplier of software for local authority social care and education management services, there has been a noticeable increase in online primary school applications this year.

The British software brand saw a record number of applications on Primary National Offer Day on 19 April. More than 30,000 applications were processed for councils such as Luton, Rochdale, Hartlepool, Bath & North East Somerset, Knowsley, and Trafford, with more than 28,000 emails and a little over 7000 letters being sent out with offers.

The vast majority of applications were completed online via the Liquidlogic parent portal with some councils achieving over 99% online applications. There has been a steady increase in the number of online applications, along with overall applications processed.

The total number of applications has almost doubled compared to last year. This is largely due to a spike in the number of councils using Liquidlogic Early Years & Education System (EYES), which includes the country’s most flexible and comprehensive School Admissions and Appeals Module.

This year saw Luton Council using EYES to manage primary school offers for the first time with efficient results. They too have noticed a trend towards online applications.

Debbie Craig, Senior Education Officer at Luton Council comments:

“We’ve managed school applications online for a long time, but it was time to replace the system that we were using with something that offered greater functionality. EYES is helping us improve the experience for parents and boost our own efficiency. Having everything in one place saves time, gives us the full picture of a child and family, including any risk factors, and enables us to share information with schools and other professionals. Ultimately, it results in better outcomes for children and their families.”

“We used EYES for the first time this year to support our management of Primary National Offer Day. We processed more than 3500 offers, with 93.9% of those applications being made online. National Offer Day can be an emotional and stressful time for families. Technology helps us ease that pressure as we can manage the whole process more efficiently, providing families with the information that they need as quickly and simply as possible.”

David Grigsby, Managing Director at Liquidlogic, comments:

“It’s great to see that people are continuing to embrace the online application process, which makes National Offer Day a far simpler, more efficient experience for the families and children involved. We expect to see very similar percentages for Primary National Offer Day in a few weeks.

“We have seen a definite influx recently in local authorities wanting a platform that gives them maximum functionality and visibility, with a number upgrading from more basic online application systems. With so much disruption to education over the past year, people are looking for clearer, more flexible ways to manage the application, appeals and placement process. We are proud that our education software solutions is enabling them to do just that.”
