Leading social care solution providers, Imosphere and Liquidlogic have extended and strengthened their long-term partnership. This enhancement will better support local authorities through the upcoming social care cap in managing the demand for new assessments and the rise in number of self-funders.
With the social care cap coming into effect in October 2023, the enhanced partnership will allow local authorities to purchase Imosphere tools directly through Liquidlogic– maximising in-house resources and speeding up the procurement process ahead of the cap. The functionality will extend to other services, allowing local authorities to use Imosphere solutions for adults’ social care, children’s social care and education.
Liquidlogic customers will benefit from Imosphere’s new online self-assessment tool that has been recently announced in collaboration with two of the government's trailblazer local authorities. Imosphere’s off-the-shelf yet locally configurable solution provides a low-effort way for local authorities to manage the increased demand for assessments and the calculation of IPBs which alleviates the need to develop or update an in-house solution and keep that up to date over time. The tool will provide the basis for Independent Personal Budget (IPB) calculations from early 2023, enabling a common approach to budget-setting across Personal Budgets and IPBs.
As part of providing Independent Personal Budgets (IPBs) to those currently self-funding, local authorities will need to be able to demonstrate that the IPB amount has been based on the equivalent cost of similar packages of care for those funded by the local authority receiving Personal Budgets (PBs). Working with two of the government Trailblazers, Imosphere has developed a citizen-facing version of Formulate, Imosphere’s strengths-based tool that provides fair and accurate estimated budgets for adults needing care and support, allowing self-assessments to be completed using the same methodology.
With the expectation that there will be individuals moving between a PB and IPB, this common mechanism will provide a defensible solution for allocating IPBs and aligns with the new government guidance relating to the need for consistency of approach across PB and IPB calculations.

Imosphere will continue to work with the government’s trailblazer local authorities currently adopting the new self-assessment tool. The final version will be rolled out by Spring 2023, with local authorities booking their implementation slots now.
