Celebrating World Social Work Day

Liquidlogic was delighted to support the London Borough of Islington’s World Social Work Day on March 17th.

The aims of the event were to celebrate and recognise the valuable contribution that social workers make to the Council and the Community and to support social workers to find ways of maintaining their wellbeing and resilience in order to provide positive outcomes for service users.

The event began over lunch and was accompanied by beautiful singing from the Islington Council Choir, whilst local osteopaths offered massages to ease away stresses and strains. A variety of speakers then followed from the Council and the world of social care, including Jo Cleary, Chair of the College of Social Work.

Jo had previously been a social worker in Islington and gave a personal insight into the way in which social care can have a positive impact on individual’s lives. She stressed that to invest in social work is to invest in communities and ultimately the investment brings savings. Jo also appealed for a review of the inspection framework to ensure it is fit for purpose, advocating greater engagement from social workers in its design.

David Grigsby, Managing Director of Liquidlogic comments: “We are delighted to support Islington with this event to appreciate the contribution of social workers. The Council has always been a pioneer and innovative in their thinking.

We are currently working on a number of interesting projects with Islington Council, including their innovation fund work in children’s services, where the software is being reconfigured to support new approaches to social work practice; and in adults services where we have recently achieved live integration with health systems to enable electronic referrals and hospital admission and discharge notices to be exchanged electronically.”
