With demands to safeguard children at their highest, social care teams under intense scrutiny and ever diminishing budgets, Councils in England continue to feel the pressure. Press reports often focus on failing services and negativity in social care, however, for those in the service, there are many shining examples of innovation, strong team spirit and ‘good news stories’.

Liquidlogic is holding an event to look at some of these accomplishments including reports from Councils which have turned around Ofsted ratings, used technology to attract and assist social workers, and introduced new ways of supporting children and families.

Speakers include:

› Tony Zaman, Corporate Director of Adults, Children & Young People’s Services, London Borough of Hillingdon. Hillingdon is an example of a Council which has turned around its Ofsted rating in just five years. Tony will talk about the key factors involved in this achievement.

› Paul Marshall, Strategic Director of Children and Education Services, Manchester City Council. Manchester’s approach to working across the region with other Local Authorities and health is unique. Paul will talk about this pioneering approach and how the Council has progressed with its valuable partnerships.

› Katherine Atkinson, Head of Information & Intelligence, Early Help & Preventative Services, Kent County Council. Katherine will cover how her team have been trailblazers in their approach to Troubled Families.

› Jenny Eccles, Head of Business Infrastructure, Hertfordshire County Council. Jenny will speak about the innovation programme at the Council which has seen them launch mobile working and a raft of other initiatives to improve practice and use IT in a supporting role.

› Jon Goldie, Director, ICT Revolutions. Jon will speak about system management, implementing the right links to the service and working in partnership with suppliers.
