Liquidlogic to enable seamless care in East Berkshire
Liquidlogic to roll-out phased social care system at Slough
Leeds, Tuesday 2 January, 2007 – Liquidlogic, a leading provider of collaborative software to the public sector, today announced that it has signed a contract through the Unisys – Slough Borough Council e-Government Partnership to provide Slough Borough Council with a holistic multi-agency case management system for both children and adults. The implementation will see Slough Borough Council upgrade its social care IT with a single integrated solution for Adults and Children’s Social Services.
For Adults Services the new system will link seamlessly to East Berkshire’s existing electronic Single Assessment Process (eSAP) system, which will enable the sharing of information between care practitioners across the three local authorities and the health community, within East Berkshire. In Children’s Services the solution will cover all of the ICS requirements for Social Services, as well as providing an integrated multi-agency Common Assessment Framework (CAF) capability.
Liquidlogic’s system has also been selected to provide tight integration with a specialist finance package from Oxford Computer Consultants (OCC), which will allow practitioners to not only have a clear view of a patient’s case history, but also see the financial implications of the care provided. The aim of this increased transparency is to enable a more informed decision on care and effective use of budget.
Dawn Warwick, Deputy Chief Executive and Strategic Director for Community & Cultural Services at Slough Borough Council said: “We were impressed with Liquidlogic’s ability to deploy a system with a clear intuitive user interface that will provide practitioners with instant access to information, and therefore enable them to spend more time on the delivery of care. The seamless linkage to multi-agency solutions like eSAP and eCAF will also be a huge step forward, along with the degree of financial control that the integrated system promises. The existing working relationship we had with Liquidlogic was a very important factor, giving us the confidence to move forward with them.”
Phase one of the project will see the deployment of Liquidlogic’s Integrated Children’s System, in line with the Department for Education and Skills’ January 2007 deadline to implement an IT based solution that supports practice and case record keeping from case referral to case closure. Phase two will extend the scope of the system to include care provision for adults.
David Grigsby, Head of Business Development at Liquidlogic said: “By embarking on a project that will see the implementation of an Integrated Children’s System (ICS) and an Integrated Adults System (IAS), which will follow local processes and allow multi-agency working, Slough Borough Council is taking a joined-up approach to providing vulnerable people with access to the most appropriate level of care. Enabling practitioners to seamlessly share information will decrease the likelihood any individual in the system getting lost, should they move within East Berkshire. This composite picture will be invaluable in ensuring those people at risk remain visible and receive the correct services and care.”
