Individual Budgets - Protecting the Elderly from Thieving Relatives

New measures are being prepared to tackle the growing problem of family members who exploit elderly people by stealing their savings and pensions. A Government report called ‘Safeguarding Adults’ outlines the potential dangers faced by the elderly. Individual budgets have added to the concern and the report outlines the need for legislation to protect those in receipt of this type of support from their Local Authorities.
