Brookfield House
The origins of the Brookfield Estate on which Brookfield House stands, date back to 1000BC, when it formed part of the Temple Newsham area, known as “Grims Dyke” which was exposed as defence line. Crop marks also depict the remains of a Romano-British farm.
There is mention of the estate in the Doomsday book, again referring to farmland. In 1155 the land was granted to the Knights Templar, but by the 1300s, having taken greater control of the area and deemed too powerful, the land was commandeered by the Crown.
The estate passed to the Earl of Lennox, whose son, (the infamous Lord Darnley), married Mary Queen of Scots in 1565.
Brookfield House itself was initially erected during the 18th century, when the original foundations, including the cellars, were laid to form a large hunting residence.
The accommodation was extended in the 1800s to create a dower house – a substantial property on an estate which was occupied by the widow of the late owner.
The 20th century saw numerous owners and families reside at the property with many renovations being made, including an impressive oak entrance hall and open staircase.
Since moving into the premises in 2004, Liquidlogic has transformed a tired family residence into a stunning office space. Mixing contemporary interiors with original features, Brookfield House offers a practical yet striking setting for business.
Although easily accessible from road and rail networks, Brookfield House nestles in rural Yorkshire within well kept grounds and amidst open meadows, offering views of flora and fauna across the countryside.
